Greetings!
Summer is in full swing and we are two shows down and one BIG show left to go. Its hard to believe that the season is half over (at least locally). We hope everyone is staying cool during the heat wave. We have some important news about the big show, Dressage in the Sierra, that we need to get out there.
This year, Dressage in the Sierra is being held at Franktown Meadows Equestrian Center in Washoe Valley. Show dates are August 26th-27th and entry forms and prize lists have been posted to the SNC web site. Once again, please be sure that your entry form is complete with all the appropriate fees paid, copies of cards, and signatures. Also, please be sure to write the show name and date at the top of your entry form. Closing date for the show is August 18th.
Wine & Beer Tasting/Hors D'oeuvres & Drinks
This years Dressage in the Sierra will include a Saturday afternoon "horse style" wine and beer tasting. Please bring a bottle of wine or six-pack of beer with a picture of a horse (or horse related picture) on the label to our hospitality tent to be shared and tasted. Hors D'oeuvres and non-alcoholic drinks will be served. *Must be over 21 to consume alcohol. Please drink responsibly. A fee of $5.00 per person will be collected by our team of bartenders and will get you a wine glass with the Dressage in the Sierra logo on it.

A tack sale will be held during Dressage in the Sierra to benefit the junior membership of the SNC chapter. We are looking for donations for the tack sale. If you have something you would like to donate please contact Cindy at cindyhnv@yahoo.com or Vicki at equest_1@yahoo.com or 849-0145. All items should be clean prior to drop off. Thank you to those who donate!!
The July show went very well. Our judge enjoyed her first visit to this part of the country and we hope to entice her back in the future. The weather held up for us and we did not get rained on (if you do not count the sprinklers). Thanks to all who competed, organized and volunteered.

SNC-CDS Board Members
I want to thank you for affording me the opportunity to attend the Amateur Clinic this year. The experience was incredible. Lilo was wonderful. I had no expectations when I left and was extremely nervous about attending; however, as soon as I met Lilo the nervousness was gone. I feel I came away with a better understanding of dressage, and some new skills to work on. In addition, being able to watch other riders of different levels under Lilo's instruction was also extremely beneficial.
I would encourage all of our members to "put their name in the hat", juniors included as each and every one of us would benefit from such a wonderful experience.
Sincerely,
Patricia Hicksted
A fall education event is being planned. The options include a bio-mechanics clinic or a saddle fitting. Stay tuned for further details.
The juniors have been asked to prepare a piece of horse related original artwork for submission to Vicki Cliff or Cindy Hoonhout. This artwork will be made into note cards and sold to help raise funds for the junior membership. We're really excited about this and looking forward to seeing their hard work. Keep a look out for them!
The next chapter meeting will be Tuesday, August 1st at 6:30 pm at Washoe Flats Steak House (formerly know as Cattlemans). Everyone is welcome to participate.
